Great for the Nomad Family. Located near Europe's largest volcano (extinct), Polana, our renovated country house is perfectly situated in a small, quiet village with great road and rail connections. Nearby are thousands of hectares of beautiful, protected, natural areas and ... hundreds of kilometers of mountain biking and skiing trails. The Protected Polana park system is the highest volcanic mountain range in Slovakia with dense forest and beautiful landscape meadows with various fauna and flora. Take in views of the High and Low Tatras from the summit of Polana. Slovakia is a small country what can be a traveling advantage since it is possible to travel across the country in a short time. There is really lot´s to see – we have beautiful cultural, historical and natural sights (High Tatra mountains, castles, rivers, etc.) Our cottage offers you accommodation in the village Kriván located in the middle of Slovakia. You can get here within a few hours from the airports of Bratislava, Vienna, or Budapest either via car, bus or train. Similarly other historic cities of Nitra, Banska Bystrica, and Banska Stiavnica are close. With the world's highest number of castles per capita there is no shortage of ancient history to explore amongst the forests of Slovakia. Country house Polana is a cozy 2 bedroom house originally built in the 1950s. The renovation was done recently with respect to the original architecture. It is situated on a quiet street with few neighbors around. Here is a garden with a gazebo where you can relax and enjoy calm evenings with a beautiful view of the Polana mountains. A supermarket, bar, restaurants, fuel station, hairdressers, post, bus, and train stations are short walks away. Full shopping & medical facilities are also available in the nearby (5km) town of Detva. The house consists of two rooms, a kitchen, bathroom, and toilet. It´s fully equipped with a furniture, TV, Wi-Fi connection, washing machine and dishwasher. Polana region is a popular place for many sports activities like biking, hiking, climbing and cross-country skiing. You can choose between road and mountain cycling, especially nice is the 127 km long circuit around Polana. There are many possibilities for hiking and climbing too – you can choose between 200 climbing routes (up to 30m high) in andesite rock formation called Kalamárka (cca 12km from Kriván). During the winter you can also do cross country skiing in recreation area Látky and Lom nad Rimavicou – both are near to Kriván village (cca 25 min with a car).
