Welcome to Merdeka House, surrounded by Jurassic mountains that rise out of beautiful blue bays. Merdeka House opened for guests in 2015 and was newly renovated during those damn lockdown years. A multi-tiered western-style house with high ceilings. The top level ... is for everyone. A large lounging area with wooden day beds and comfy cushions. We put the projector on at night with the surround sound for a twisted Tarantino film or sit back with the guitar and watch the slow sunset. The shelves are full of paints, board games and recommended reads. There is a pool table too, that helps with work procrastination. There are 12 individual areas in this space to set yourself up for the day's tasks. Complimentary fast WIFI is available for guest use throughout the house. Printing and office equipment is available in the corner. The kitchen and food preparation area is set up with all cooking equipment, refrigeration and lots of storage space. Make yourself at home with a pot of lemongrass and ginger tea. Clean drinking water is provided. The outdoor kitchen area has a hot plate for BBQs and a wood fire oven for pizza nights and fresh bread. Above the outdoor kitchen, you'll find Rudy's Bar the place for a cold beer and a story. Most people get around the island on motorbikes. There is a paved secure parking area. This area has a toilet and an outdoor shower surrounded by ferns, passionfruit flowers and bougainvillea vines. Downstairs there are six private and large bedrooms. A Queen size bed and/or King single with fresh white cotton sheets, towels and a mosquito net. The rooms have big windows with panoramic views and private bathrooms with clean western toilets, sinks and showers. Locally-made turmeric soaps and large fans add a little luxury. In the morning we go surfing or swimming. There are boards for hire. It's only a short walk along the beach to the restaurants for fresh mango juice and coconut. West Sumbawa has thick wild rainforests perfect for exploring. During your stay, we can draw you a map of the waterfalls, snorkelling reefs, fishing rocks, turtle sand dunes and whale shark feeding harbour.
