Isla, The Island Experience provides guests the unique opportunity to escape the tourist trail and enjoy the simple things in life. A stunning white sand beach hugs the 140m perimeter of the land which provides the entrance to a breathtaking ... ocean world. The landscape is surrounded by a coral reef, thriving with tropical fish such as Nemos, Dory’s and many other beautiful marine life. If this isn’t exciting enough, Isla offers one of the only shipwreck sites accessible by mask and snorkel in El Nido; just 50m off the south beach, guests can swim to the ship and discover coral and marine life. Darocotan Island is located in North East Palawan, only a 60 minute van drive from El Nido and 40 minutes north of Nacpan Beach. While the boat pick up point is easily accessible by van, the island feels isolated, instilling a true feeling of wanderlust within our guests. Accommodation style and facilities Elevated Bamboo Huts Our nipa huts are made from local bamboo and lumber, fashioned in traditional styles to give an authentic island experience. Elevated 9ft off the ground, they combine practical comfort with the thrills of beach living and stunning ocean views. These huts are open aired, offering unbelievable panoramic views of the beach and night sky. Each guest will have a mattress, pillow, mosquito net, towel and bedding. Additional Facilities There is an on site western toilet and shower block with access to clean water for washing. The island has hammocks situated in picturesque viewpoints for the ultimate island relaxation. The camp has a communal area, with dining/seating area, hammocks and a bar serving cold beverages. This place is perfect for having fun, exchanging stories and making new friends! It is an adaptable space which we utilise to host dinners, screen movies. Fresh filtered drinking water and juice is delivered daily to the Isla which is available for free to all guests. The Isla Family Our Isla family consists of 2 English hosts and 8 friendly local staff. We have a dog named Bertie, 2 pigs, Betty and Wilma (Wilma especially likes to go swimming in the ocean, a highlight of many of our guests visit)! All our animals are very friendly and will be happy to meet you! Bar We have a native style bar with a range of different alcoholic drinks available. At night we light fire lanterns, have music, lights in the trees. Food & Drink All food is cooked by our local chefs, made using locally sourced produce from the surrounding villages. Breakfast is usually eggs, pancakes, bread, fruit and coffee. Lunch is usually vegetable fried rice, spring rolls, fish (barracuda/ tuna) or a chicken or pork dish with rice & fruit.
